Functional principle: simultaneous
The simultaneous placement of the distance and near zones in the area of the pupil always results in a simultaneous (simultaneous) image of the distance and near zones. The currently undesired image (far or near) is ideally suppressed by the brain and not perceived.
A very small pupil opening or a decentered lens fit can impair visual performance.
