In contrast to normal (spherical lenses), toric monthly lenses also correct astigmatism. Toric lenses thus achieve a higher visual acuity than spherical lenses in the case of existing astigmatism. To order toric lenses, additional lens parameters are required. In addition to the lens power ( SPH or PWR ) , diameter ( DIA ) and lens curvature ( BC ), the cylinder power ( CYL ) and the axis belonging to the cylinder ( AX ) are also required. Toric lenses are therefore somewhat more complicated than spherical lenses. Since ametropia with additional astigmatism is relatively common, toric lenses are now part of the standard range of well-known lens manufacturers.
