In this category you will find hard and hard-gas permeable, so-called RGP lenses.
Hard contact lenses differ in many respects from soft lenses. The material is only very slightly flexible, hard lenses are much smaller ( diameter about 9-11mm ) and they practically do not store cleaning and disinfecting solutions. This makes them somewhat more favorable for the eye in the long run (seen over several years). On the other hand, one has to make concessions at the beginning when it comes to wearing comfort. Because hard lenses are hardly flexible, they have to be adapted to the shape of the cornea very precisely.
